COACH VIKAS GILL
A highly accomplished player and coach, Vikas Gill brings a winning pedigree and extensive experience at the high school, university, and prep levels to Canada Topflight Academy (CTA).
As a high school player, Vik was ranked among the Top 50 players in Canada and played for Coach Tony House at Sacred Heart. During his time there, Sacred Heart captured the AAA/AAAA City Championship, climbed as high as #4 in the national rankings, reached the final of the All-Catholic Provincial Championship, and advanced to the quarterfinals at AAAA OFSAA.
Vik continued his playing career at the University of Ottawa, where he was part of one of the most successful stretches in Gee-Gees basketball history. During his university career, he won an OUA Championship, two OUA silver medals and one bronze, while making four consecutive appearances at the U SPORTS National Championship, earning two national silver medals and one bronze. He was also named Player of the Game in a national semifinal.
Individually, Vik established himself as one of the program’s top perimeter shooters. He graduated third all-time in made three-pointers and remains third all-time in three-point percentage. He is also the all-time leader in wins with the Gee-Gees. From his second through fifth seasons, his teams consistently ranked among the top three nationally in both offense and defense.
Following his playing career, Vik transitioned into coaching, beginning as an Assistant Coach with the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees. He later spent two seasons as head coach of the Gloucester Wolverines, leading the team to a third-place finish in Division 1. The following season, Gloucester was ranked 8th in Ontario before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Now entering his fourth year with CTA, Vik has already helped the program capture Top Gun, Trillium, and Platinum championships. His experience competing and winning at every level, combined with his understanding of high-performance basketball, makes him a valuable part of CTA’s player development and coaching staff.
